John 15:7-8 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. (8) Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.
“Abiding in Jesus and continuing in the Word is not a condition of discipleship, but is rather the evidence of it.” – Oliver B. Greene
The world tells us that the Bible does not need to be applied or followed. The world tells us those who preach obedience to God’s Word out of a sincere heart are foolish. Despite what people may want you to think, Jesus tells us here that our abiding in Him and His Word will produce such fruit in our life that will glorify God. Which is the evidence of our life that we are a disciple(follower) of Jesus Christ.
We can conclude this:
1. There is the potential of living a life that glorifies God by the fruit it bears. – This type of life is evidence of being a disciple of Jesus Christ.
2. There is the potential of living a life that dishonors God by bearing worldly fruit. – This type of life is evidence of not being a disciple of Jesus Christ
Mat_7:20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
What is known of your life because of the fruit it is bearing? Are you a Christian who brings Glory to God? Are you easily identified as a disciple of Jesus Christ?
